FUN & ADVENTURE:

While at the beach and under the sun, there are all kinds of activities to fill your vacation with fun and excitement. Go swimming in calm waters, snorkel and discover friendly and playful schools of fish, scuba dive colorful coral reefs, rent a jet ski, go boating around the coast to see the scenery, go spear fishing, and the list goes on. Here are some ideas:

BICYCLING

If you love nature and bicycling, Cabo Rojo is the right spot for you. Cycle through forests, ride up to caves, climb up to cliffs and discover the sights. End your adventure at a beautiful beach and go for a refreshing frozen drink at one of the many bars and restaurants on the area.

FISHING

If you love fishing, you will fall in love with Cabo Rojo or may end up even consider buying a place to come and fish often. Cabo Rojo has several fishing villages, Puerto Real Fishing Village the largest of them all. Half of the fish consumed on the Island comes from Cabo Rojo. Be sure to go to Puerto Real from 11:30am to 12:30 when the local fisherman come in with their catch of the day. It is fun just waiting by the dock just to see how lucky they got in their morning rounds.

There are several charters and certified captains that will be happy to take you into the ocean for many different Caribbean fish including the fun to catch Tarpon which there are plenty in Cabo Rojo to keep you having fun bringing them in to your boat.

Fishing in Puerto Rico takes many forms, the most dramatic of which is deep-sea fishing for billfish. Fishing is good year round, however Winter, which runs roughly from October to early March, is the best overall season for dolphin, dorado, mahi-mahi, wahoo, white marlin, yellow fin tuna and an occasional sailfish. The west coast of Puerto Rico (including Cabo Rojo) has excellent fishing not only for Blue Marlin but also for White marlin. The area around Mona island in the Mona Passage teem with not only the marlin species but with Wahoo and Dorado. The Club Deportivo del Oeste and the Compañía de Turismo de Puerto Rico annually celebrate the International Sailfish Tournament and the International Blue Marlin Tournament.

LA PARGUERA

La Parguera, in Lajas, is a beautiful area where more than 30 mangrove cays and islands form ornate channels. On the weekend, locals often visit one of the mangrove areas for an impromptu gathering. It is a perfect area for bird watching, snorkeling, canoeing and kayaking, and boat trips.

Nature lovers will never let go the incredible and rare opportunity to visit a tropical bioluminescent bay. Visiting La Parguera Bioluminescent Bay is great for a trip on a moonless night. Go to La Parguera and take a boat with a cristal bottom at the dock for an exciting bioluminescent bay trip (dinoflagellate watching). Due to their delicate ecology, bioluminescent bays are rare in the world!

GOLF

Club Deportivo del Oeste 18 hole Golf Course was designed by Jack Bender and opened in 1965. This course will challenge you with the most difficult opening hole on the island. The Club Deportivo golf course is part of a private club but it is open to the public from 7am - 5pm daily. You will find yourself in a downhill or uphill lie most of the time since the golf course is located in a hilly terrain. Beautiful greens, challenging fun and stunning ocean views of the Caribbean at Club Deportivo in Cabo Rojo, PR.

HIKING

HummingbirdIf you love nature and birds you will have a very enjoyable time in Cabo Rojo. You can explore the Wildlife Refuge of Cabo Rojo and hike about 12 miles where you can admire sights of birds, the sights and ocean vistas are breathtaking. Don't leave without hiking up the hill to the cliffs of Los Morillos Lighthouse, the most breathtaking location of Cabo Rojo.
